About Me

Embarking on a musical odyssey at the tender age of 6, Amritha delved into the intricacies of Indian classical music under the tutelage of Kaithapuram Damodaran Namboothiri, setting the stage for a journey guided by a lineage of revered gurus such as Chinmaya sisters, Peumbavoor G ravindranath and Bhamah Krishnan. Along this path, she was bestowed with the privilege of sharing the stage alongside S.P. Balasubramaniam as a part of a concert organised by Chakshumathi Charitable Trust in Kochi. From humble beginnings in school youth festivals to gracing stages at state-level events, each encounter enriched her musical tapestry and affirmed her unwavering dedication to the craft. Amritha continues to achieve deeper insights in Indian classical music under the training of renowned Indian Carnatic duo Smt. Ranjani & Gayathri.

Diversifying her artistic pursuits, Amritha explored the realms of television as a VJ in Kerala, gaining invaluable insights while navigating the intricacies of the medium. Venturing beyond familiar territories, she immersed herself in the world of Opera at ARR's KM Music Conservatoire in Chennai, refining her skills under the guidance of seasoned mentors. Collaborating with the Sunshine Orchestra's choir added new dimensions to her repertoire, further enhancing her musical versatility.

The pinnacle of her journey materialized through collaborations with esteemed artists, including Sachin Shankar Mannath's "Mother," alongside Grammy-nominated talents, and auditions at Trinity College of Music, London, where she refined her craft under the tutelage of Teresa Cahill. In 2020, she proudly unveiled her debut single, "Afterword," a poignant fusion of Bharathiyaar's poetry and contemporary composition, marking a significant milestone in her artistic evolution. Collaborating with SouthAsianArts UK for "Spotlight," she curated an unforgettable evening titled "INDIAN SOIREE" at Seven Arts in Leeds, presenting unreleased originals that narrated stories from her life alongside talented collaborators, epitomizing the culmination of her musical pursuits. As she continues to traverse new musical landscapes, her journey remains a testament to the enduring power of passion, perseverance, and creative exploration.

"I would like to call my journey as a musician a never ending learning journey. I constantly find myself learning something new everyday. I find it truly liberating to leave it open ended like that. The more open I am towards the craft the more it shows me the way to find my sound to create my own niche with my music amongst the listeners. That is how I wish to look at my life as a person who is constantly wanting to create music as I learn. It is a parallel process."
